The Oskar Halecki Institute of Canada has the honour of presenting the 3rd Oskar Halecki Symposium on the subject of The Polish Defensive War of 1939 – The Outbreak of World War II and Beyond on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Saint Paul University (Amphitheatre G1124, 223 Main Street, Ottawa, ON K1S 1C4). The Symposium begins at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m.
Key guests include known expert Professor Marek Kornat, Ph.D., Institute of History, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, who will be speaking on the Crisis of 1938-1939. Poland’s Rejection of German Territorial Demands;
Dr. Alexander M. Jablonski, Oskar Halecki Institute in Canada, Ottawa, on the subject of The Polish Defensive War in September 1939 – Reflections on the 80th Anniversary;
Dr. Andrzej Kurnicki, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Canada whose talk will focus on The Polish Cavalry – Elite of the Polish Army During the 1939 War;
Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Robert Williams, Ph.D., Royal Military College, Kingston, who will be speaking on General Maczek and Canadians;
Mr. Edward Poznanski, B.A. (Hon.), M.P.A., Ottawa, who will address the topic of On All Fronts: Poland’s Contributions to Allied Victory, 1939 – 1945.
A panel discussion will close the Symposium.
